What a wellness checkup usually includes
- Physical exam — body condition, weight, coat, eyes, ears, heart, lungs, and anything that looks off
- Dental look — teeth and gums for signs of dental disease (an awake exam, not a cleaning). See pet dental if surgery is recommended later
- Nutrition — diet and weight trends
- Vaccine review — what’s due now vs later. Details: vaccines
- Parasite prevention — fleas, ticks, and related prevention as appropriate for this pet
What is right for your dog or cat is decided at the visit — this page does not invent lab panels or “wellness packages.”
How often to come in
- Most adult dogs and cats: at least once a year
- Seniors or pets with chronic conditions: more often, as the veterinarian recommends
